Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:

  1. Black tunnels of smoke darkened the sky over the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge on Monday morning. The first 911 call came in at 9:40 a.m reporting that the J.S. Fesmire Hauling facility in the 5100 block of Dark Run Lane, at Tacony and Van Kirk streets was engulfed in flames. Over 140 Philly firefighters fought the blaze and residents were urged to stay indoors until the four-alarm fire was extinguished. (6abc Philadelphia)
  2. Motorists along I-95 north near Penn's Landing had to dodge bullets as a motorist opened fire at another vehicle. Pennsylvania State Police responded to a call from a driver reporting a black motorcycle fired a handgun at their vehicle and sped away. Traffic came to a halt for about 90 minutes as police investigated. No arrests so far have been made. (PA Patch)
  3. A five-year old boy was shot by his father in the Olney section of the city on Monday morning. Police were called to the 200 block of W. Fisher Avenue and found the child shot in the pelvis and rushed him to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. Police say the father had been convicted of a firearms violation in November and was on house arrest when he accidentally shot his child while handing the firearm. (6abc Philadelphia)
