Teen Killed, 4 Hurt In Roxborough Shooting: Police

PHILADELPHIA, PA — One teenager is dead and four others were hurt in a shooting outside Roxborough High School Tuesday evening, according to authorities.

Philadelphia Police said a 14-year-old boy was killed, and four other boys suffered gunshot wounds.

Police said at least two people ambushed a group of students who finished playing football and were walking on Pechin Street by the school and opened fire on the kids at about 4:30 p.m.

NBC10 reports about 70 shots were fired.

Four of the victims were taken to a hospital and another suffered a graze wound.

The decedent was pronounced dead at 5:09 p.m.

Police said the gunmen left the area on foot.

The investigation is in its early stages, and police said it's unclear what could have led to the shooting.

The victims are all players at Roxborough High School, police said.

"The School District of Philadelphia is heartbroken and angered by the shooting today outside of Roxborough High School, which tragically impacted five youth and tragically took the life of one," School District of Philadelphia Superintendent Dr. Tony Watlington Sr. said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends and school communities of all of the students that have been impacted by this horrific incident."
