Eastern PA Teen Dies From Coronavirus
Forty-one teachers at the teen's school called out on Monday calling for more safety COVID-19 measures.
PHILADELPHIA, PA — A Philadelphia teen has died from coronavirus, leading to more than 40 teachers at her high school to call out on Monday in a push for better COVID-19 safety measures.
Olney Charter High School was forced into remote instruction due to the demonstration, which took place about a week after the teen's death.
According to Action News, 41 teachers called out Monday to call for increased safety measures at the school after 17-year-old senior Alayna Thach died from coronavirus last week.

The school's owner, Aspria, told Action News that the school has taken sanitation and safety measured to combat coronavirus.
NBC10 reports the school will teach virtually from Jan. 10 through Jan. 14 due to increased coronavirus cases.

Thach's funeral was held over the weekend.
According to a GoFundMe campaign for her family, she planned on graduating in June 2022 and aspired to be a life coach.
As of Monday, more than 400 people have raised nearly $25,000 for Thach's GoFundMe campaign.
