5 Philadelphia Companies Among Best Employers In Nation: Forbes

Five companies that call Philadelphia home found itself on the new ranking of America's best employers for 2018 from Forbes.

PHILADELPHIA – Five Philadelphia-based companies found themselves ranked among the best employers in the nation, according to a new list from Forbes.

Among 21 Pennsylvania companies on the list were Penn Medical, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the City Of Philadelphia, Independence Blue Cross, and GlaxoSmithKline.

Forbes' rankings were released on Tuesday and include 500 companies that have more than 5,000 employees.

The highest-ranked Pennsylvania company was Penn Medical, which came in sixth in the nation overall.

CHOP was No. 172, the city No. 295, Independence No. 306, and GSK No. 445.

The rankings of America's best large employers placed tire manufacturer Michelin at the top of the list while the grocery chain Trader Joe's took the No. 2 spot and Google came in at No. 3.

Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to compile the list. Statista surveyed 30,000 people, asking respondents to rate how likely they'd be to recommend their employer to others, Forbes explains.

Respondents were also asked to nominate organizations outside of their own, according to Forbes.
