Philly Protests: 91 Arrested, More Unrest Expected Tuesday
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said police are preparing for more unrest Tuesday following Walter Wallace's death Monday.

PHILADELPHIA — Nearly 100 people were arrested Monday and Tuesday during unrest following the fatal shooting of Walter Wallace in West Philadelphia Monday afternoon.
Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said Tuesday that 91 people have been arrested in connection with looting and violence that broke out following peaceful protests Monday.
Outlaw said three arrests were for failure to disperse, 11 were for assaults on police, and 76 were for commercial burglaries (three of which involved guns). She said investigations into these events are ongoing and more arrests are expected.

Twenty-nine of the 30 police officers hurt have been released from hospitals, mostly being injured by thrown bricks, rocks, and other debris. A police sergeant is recovering in a hospital after suffering a broken leg when she was struck by a pickup truck.
Additionally, eight police vehicles were damaged, one of which was set on fire. Outlaw also said a Philadelphia Fire Department medic vehicle was damaged.

Outlaw said police are preparing for more unrest Tuesday. Police presence will be increased around the city at key locations, she said.
White House officials said Tuesday they are monitoring the unrest in Philadelphia and are prepared to deploy federal resources to the city if warranted. White House communications director Alyssa Farah Tuesday said President Donald Trump plans on letting the investigation play out but said he will not tolerate violence toward law enforcement.
District Attorney Larry Krasner late Tuesday urged people to stay peaceful when demonstrating.
Roving and static details that are part of a looting response team will be deployed to commercial districts and other key locations, as well.
Outlaw said traffic patrol will be in place for any demonstrations that develop.
Philadelphia Police have also requested mutual aid from surrounding counties and the state.
Outlaw committed to releasing information or saying what information will be released within the next 48 hours as the shooting is investigated.
