'Abbott Elementary' Star Lisa Ann Walter Doing Standup Shows In Philly

Lisa Ann Walter, known for playing South Philly's Melissa Schemmenti on the hit ABC sitcom, is doing four standup comedy shows in Philly.

PHILADELPHIA — Lisa Ann Walter has been in many TV shows and movies.

Millennials will know her from the 1998 remake of "The Parent Trap."

But the country over likely knows her better as Melissa Schemmenti, the fictional Philadelphia public school teacher from South Philly on the hit ABC sitcom "Abbott Elementary," created by Philadelphia's own Quinta Brunson.

Walter got her start in standup comedy and became a national name for her perfect depiction of the South Philly accent.

Now, she's reviving her standup career and heading to the city that's made her so famous.

Walter will perform five shows at Helium Comedy Club in Philadelphia later this month.

Shows are set for 8 p.m. Thursday, July 20; 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday, July 21; and 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 22.

General admission tickets are $32 and reserved seating tickets are $44.
