Acela Trespasser Strike Narrowly Averted
Northbound Amtrak Acela train arriving into Philadelphia at 915pm narrowly misses trespasser

The northbound Amtrak Acela coming into Philadelphia at 915pm was delayed for 30 minutes due its emergency brakes being triggered by what was referred to by the train conductor as a “possible trespasser strike” - term for hitting a trespasser on the tracks. The train was stopped for 30 minutes while equipment was checked and police were notified.
A train staff member who asked not to be identified stated that passenger strikes typically delay arrivals for two hours.
According to the conductor, in this case, the situation turned out to be a “narrowly averted trespasser strike”. The 915pm northbound Acela is moving and will be arriving into the Philadelphia 30th Street Station at this time of this posting.
