ACL Tear Ends Carson Wentz's Stellar Season
Wentz took a season-ending hit Sunday while diving into the endzone against the Rams. Now, it's up to Nick Foles to keep the Birds going.

PHILADELPHIA – Anyone who watched the nail-biter of a game Sunday when the Eagles took on the Los Angeles Rams all suffered a collective punch to the gut when Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz dived into the endzone looking for a touchdown and took a big hit to his legs.
Now, the team has confirmed Wentz tore his ACL during that play, effectively ending the second-year QB's stunning season.
Coach Doug Pederson announced the tough news at a press conference Monday. See video of the conference below.

While fans may be heartbroken, Wentz himself is looking on the bright side, focusing on the team clinching the NFC East rather than his own injury.
He also thanked everyone who has sent well wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery from his serious injury.

This season, the 24-year-old star QB has thrown for 3,296 yards passing with 33 touchdowns and 7 interceptions, putting him among the top candidates for the MVP this year.
Wentz came out of the game in the third quarter Sunday and back up quarterback Nick Foles stepped in, helping the Eagles net their 43-35 win over the Rams.
The Birds performance without Wentz in the fourth quarter seems like a good sign the team can still put up a fight for the remainder of the season and in the playoffs.
Foles threw for 42 yards on six of 10 passes.
The Eagles are now 11-2 and stand as the NFC East champs.
They take on the New York Giants Sunday, Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. on Fox.

NFC East Champs! So proud of the resiliency of this team. Such a special group of men. And I greatly appreciate all the prayers! I know my God is a powerful one with a perfect plan. Time to just lean in to him and trust whatever the circumstances! #Proverbs3:5-6
