PHILADELPHIA — A driver sped through a red light and struck another vehicle, killing two people Saturday night in North Philadelphia, authorities said.
The driver and her passenger were also injured.
The crash happened around 11:35 p.m. in the Juniata neighborhood.
Preliminary details indicate a green 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee was speeding westbound on East Hunting Park Avenue.
The driver sped through a red light and struck the side of a gold 2004 Lexus ES330 at the intersection with K Street, police said.
The Lexus had been traveling southbound on K Street with a steady green light, according to law enforcement.
The Lexus driver — a 60-year-old woman — was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her passenger — a 55-year-old man — was pronounced dead shortly after midnight at Temple University Hospital.
The Jeep driver and passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were brought to Albert Einstein Medical Center in stable condition.
Both vehicles were seriously damaged and disabled.
There are no charges filed or pending at this time, police told Patch.
