PHILADELPHIA — A driver died in a fiery crash early Saturday on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia, authorities said.
A black Dodge Charger traveled erratically up I-95 North before hitting the left concrete barrier around 2:05 a.m., said State Police.
Troopers found the vehicle partially on fire at milepost 23, near Girard Avenue. They shattered the back window to extricate the driver. But the driver didn't respond, and the flames became too extreme for troopers to stay near the car, police said.
The Philadelphia Fire Department arrived and extinguished the flames.
The driver was pronounced dead. Their identity remains unknown as of Monday morning, police said.
Witnesses told police that the vehicle moved erratically before crashing, officials said. It's unclear what caused the erratic driving.
