Protesters rally against Academy of Natural Sciences closure (metrophiladelphia.com) — Protesters rallied outside Philadelphia's Academy of Natural Sciences after Drexel University confirmed the 198-year-old museum will close at month's end due to rising operating costs. Local science advocates warn that losing the Parkway landmark, with its 19 million specimens and beloved dinosaur exhibits, will deprive Philadelphia children and researchers of a rare hub for curiosity and discovery.
   

5. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Pledges Coordinated Response After Labor Day Weekend Teen Gatherings at City Hall (northeasttimes.com) — After two nights of large teen gatherings around Philadelphia City Hall over Labor Day weekend, Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel plans to convene city partners to craft a coordinated response. The crowds at Dilworth Park led to several arrests, citations, and at least one firearm-related detention. Officials say they'll study social media-driven "teen takeovers" to keep Center City safer for residents and visitors.
