PHILADELPHIA — Months after a heated Democratic primary, State Rep. Chris Rabb has coasted to victory in the general election for Pennsylvania's 3rd congressional district, according to the Associated Press.
The AP called the race for Rabb less than a half-hour after polls closed, when the Democratic socialist held 93.2 percent of the vote against independent candidate Dennis Mahoney.
No Republican was nominated in the race.
In the primary, Rabb emerged from a crowded Democratic field, defeating State Sen. Sharif Street and Ala Stanford, who served in the U.S. Department of Health.
Rabb is set to succeed U.S. Rep. Dwight Evans, who is retiring from Congress at the end of this term.
Republicans have held a "trifecta" throughout President Donald Trump's second term, with the GOP holding majorities in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.
All House seats and 35 Senate seats are up for election.
Pennsylvania's 3rd congressional district is one of the bluest in the country. It includes West Philadelphia, most of Center City and Northwest Philadelphia and parts of North Philadelphia.
The 3rd district election tally is available below. Election results are unofficial until certified on a later date.
