PHILADELPHIA — Rumors of a flyover by the Blue Angels and Thunderbird jet squadrons in Philadelphia have circulating online recently. That rumor was quashed by the Philadelphia Inquirer Wednesday.

But the Washington Post reported Wednesday evening that a Pentagon memo says a flyover will happen in Philly.

According to the Post, the Navy and Air Force's demonstration squadrons will do flyovers in major cities across the nation in a display of "national unity" and a thank you to first responders, essential workers, and others still working to keep people heavy and America running amid the pandemic.

The Post reports it will happen in the next several weeks.

The Thunderbirds flew over several Colorado cities following the Air Force Academy's graduation near Colorado Springs last Saturday.

"It does mean a lot, and it makes you realize that people do really care and see what we're doing even though they're not able to come in the hospital," Kim Clark, a nurse at University of Colorado Hospital UCHealth, told CBS Denver of the flyover.

The flyovers will not feature stunts and will avoid passing areas where people might congregate to promote social distancing, Axios reported.
