Enjoy the excitement of boating and be prepared to handle any situation with our NJ Boat Safety Certification Course.
We at Boat Safe US look forward to being your Boat Safety Instructors and helping you earn your NJ Boating Safety Certificate. Our instructors will provide you with a fun-filled and educational look at Boat Safety in New Jersey.
If you are operating a personal watercraft (Jet Ski, Wave Runner, etc.), or a power vessel on the waters of the State of New Jersey you are required to possess a New Jersey boat safety certificate. This class meets the State of New Jersey - Division of State Police Marine Law Enforcement requirements for boat safety education. Temporary certifications will be given upon successful completion of the course. All Boat Safe US Courses are approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Classes are completed in a one-day class (8 1/2 hour day including lunch break and test time) or in two evenings (two 3 1/2 hour classes with mandatory homework). This Certificate is valid for Power Boats and Jet Skis (age 16 and over) and is accepted throughout many states as a valid form of having completed a Boaters Safety Course.

Carlton analyzes love, expectations, and compassion from all angles on "Love Is An Art"
Vanessa Carlton continues to expand creatively as an artist as seen in her upcoming seventh studio album Veils produced by Dave Fridmann (MGMT, Flaming Lips) to be released early 2026. Fridmann also produced her last album Love is An Art (2020).
“The album will of course mean different things to different people and that is what excites me. I had to embrace my own contradictions in order to see what the world of the album was going to feel and sound like,” says Carlton. “I love the metaphor of wearing a veil. There are so many layers to all of us. When I look back on the four year process, I see that I was gradually becoming fascinated with stoicism.”
Through her songs, Vanessa invites listeners to explore the Veils in their own lives. Which Veil are you lifting? Which Veil are you putting on?
“Our veils tell a story, when we choose to take one off or when we put one on…it is such a personal act,” says Carlton.
Vanessa recently unveiled the first track “Animal” off the upcoming album that lays the foundation in her pursuit for stoicism. Vanessa shared that the song is about, “The idea of knowing we cannot control external forces; she is being hunted and she accepts the reality of what is happening. The acceptance allows her to truly see the animal. Does she even identify with this creature? Every human has an animal within them. Are you hunting? Are you being hunted? Who is the animal?”
Carlton has constantly challenged both herself and the expectations that surround her throughout her lengthy, accomplished career: she was discovered as a singer-songwriter/pianist when a cassette tape demo was given to legendary music impresario Ahmet Ertegun. With her debut single "A Thousand Miles," Carlton soared to the top of the Billboard charts and garnered multiple Grammy nominations, and continues to captivate audiences across generations as well as genres. VICE’s documentary on “A Thousand Miles” earned the media outlet a 2022 News &amp; Documentary Emmy nomination
Though “A Thousand Miles” is only a small fraction of her body of work and artistic identity, as she continues to evolve as a performer and songwriter. In the summer of 2019, she made her Broadway debut as Carole King in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. Carlton most recently scored her first film with husband John McCauley of Deer Tick for Wish You Were Here directed by Julia Stiles.

Join the American Philosophical Society and The British Academy on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 to welcome Dame Linda Colley for a lecture on “Rome and America: Edward Gibbon and the American Revolution.”&nbsp;
Between 1776 and 1783, Edward Gibbon published the first three volumes of The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. Read by many of the Founding Fathers, they were quickly purchased for the use of Congress and became best-sellers in the new United States. Despite this, and although Gibbon was a Member of Parliament during the Revolutionary War, he is now often represented as essentially a detached and conservative figure with no real interest in events in America. In this lecture, Linda Colley discusses the Revolution's impact on his ideas and on his history-writing, and what he meant in claiming that, “The decline of the two empires, the Roman and the British” was advancing “with equal steps.”
This event, featuring Linda Colley, a Fellow of The British Academy, is a collaboration of the APS and The British Academy and is part of a series of programs featuring international exchange of learned academies. While the APS is the oldest learned society in the United States, promoting useful knowledge in all fields, The British Academy is the UK’s national academy for the humanities and society sciences. They mobilise these disciplines to understand the world and shape a brighter future. Much like the APS, the Academy invests in researchers and projects, engages the public with fresh thinking and debates, and brings together scholars, government, business, and civil society to influence policy for the benefit of everyone. Moreover, like the APS’s elected Members, at the heart of the Academy is a Fellowship of more than 1,800 academics elected for their distinction in the humanities and social sciences. The Fellows play an active role in the Academy’s governance and support their work through involvement in events, awards, publications, and policy programs.

St. James became a more inclusive community church as well and was the largest Lutheran church in Philadelphia, with 5 weekly services. Having retired from St. James once in 2011, he was called back in 2020 to address a leadership crisis threatening the congregation’s continued existence. On March 22nd he led the church in a jubilant centennial service. Who was Charles Willson Peale?
Step into Peale's extraordinary world--painter, naturalist, museum founder, and patriarch of America's most influential artistic dynasty--with Dr. Wendy Bellion, Sewell C. Biggs Chair in American Art History at the University of Delaware, for an illuminating exploration of the Peale family's outsized impact on American art and culture.
At the heart of this talk is Peale's iconic self-portrait The Artist in His Museum (1822)—a masterwork that captures Peale lifting a curtain to reveal his Philadelphia Museum's natural history wonders, inviting viewers into a space where art, science, and civic education converge. But the Peale story doesn't end with Charles Willson. His children—Raphaelle, Rembrandt, Rubens, Titian, and more—carried forward his artistic legacy, each making distinct contributions to American portraiture, still life, and museum culture.
A Nation of Artists features at least nine works by Peale family members, and PAFA's reinstalled galleries spotlight their enduring influence on American visual culture. City Winery Philadelphia presents Sonja Morgan live on Wed, May 13th at 7:30pm.
Sonja Morgan is a television personality, fashion designer, and entrepreneur best known for appearing on The Real Housewives of New York City. Prior to joining the cast in 2010, Sonja had long been considered one of the most prominent "movers and shakers," beginning in the '80s as she balanced her studies at FIT with modeling around the globe. Sonja soon became a luxury brand consultant, and always had her finger on the pulse of the very best restaurants, hotels, and fashion. Restaurateur Sirio Maccioni of Le Cirque once said that "very few people have her talent in our business," and Esquire Magazine's John H. Mariani labeled her as "the straw that stirs the drink."
Having long been celebrated for her fashion taste in the New York society pages, and given her history working in the fashion world, Sonja debuted her fashion collection at New York Fashion Week in 2015. Sonja Morgan New York offers a wide variety of luxury fashions at an appealing price point. In 2017 she introduced her heritage brand shoe line, Sonja Morgan by French Sole, and the following year her empire expanded once again with the launch of Sonja by Sonja Morgan, a curated selection of affordable fashions and accessories all under $150.
It was Sonja's keen eye for business opportunities that led her to The Real Housewives of New York City. Though she initially declined to join the hit reality series when it launched, she signed on in season 3, and ever since has been lauded by viewers for her boisterous personality and one-of-a-kind sense of humor. She's been a member of the NBCUniversal family for over a decade, and is regularly asked to participate in advertising up-fronts, scripted comedies, commercials, and major motion pictures.
Her performing work has included her hit "caburlesque" show (a term coined by Sonja herself), a successful run in the Off-Broadway comedy Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man, an appearance in Hulu's "Difficult People," and a performance at Improv Asylum. Behind the camera, Sonja has served as a producer on movies such as The Marsh, starring Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker, and the 2018 film The Man in the Attic.
Sonja has long been an advocate for the arts, children, animals, and the LGBTQ community and since 1991 has worked with a wide variety of charities including New Yorkers for Children, The Princess Grace Foundation, ASPCA, and GLAAD. Sonja is often celebrated for her philanthropic contributions, going back to 1995 when she was honored at the St. Regis alongside Mira Sorvino and Vanessa Noel for her charity work as a young single woman.
It's Sonja's rich personal life that helps make her such a great fit for the hit reality franchise. As a young professional, Sonja broke off her six-year engagement with Italian Count PierFrancesco, who she lived with between Rome and Manhattan. For years the tabloids covered her escapades with famous and influential men, including Prince Albert of Monaco, comedian Richard Lewis, rock legend Eric Clapton, and tennis player John McEnroe. But it was with banker John Adams Morgan, descendant of financier J.P. Morgan and Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams, that Sonja met her match. Their "merger" resulted in a successful, loving decade-long marriage and a beautiful daughter.

Come dance the cachucha and join The Savoy Company in celebrating our 125th anniversary year with Gilbert &amp; Sullivan’s uplifting operetta, The Gondoliers! Set in Venice and the fictional kingdom of Barataria, the plot centers on two gondoliers, Marco and Giuseppe, who discover that one of them is the rightful king but cannot determine which. They agree to rule jointly until the true monarch can be identified, allowing Gilbert to satirize monarchy, aristocracy, and British political institutions. The show is especially noted for its unusually warm tone and emphasis on equality, reflecting contemporary late-Victorian debates about class and governance.
Through its witty dialogue, lively ensemble numbers, and playful mockery of aristocracy and political systems, the operetta celebrates equality while poking fun at rigid class distinctions and the pretensions of monarchy.
Premiered in 1889, The Gondoliers is the twelfth collaboration between librettist W.S. Gilbert and composer Arthur Sullivan. The show ran for 554 performances, making it one of the duo’s most successful later works.
Introducing Stage Director Grant Mech and Choreographer Rebecca Malcolm-Naib, whose inventive vision brings The Gondoliers to life in a masterful comedy that sparkles under the outstanding baton of Music Director Peter Hilliard and a superb professional orchestra. Produced by William Kader, the production is enhanced by a striking, professionally designed set and delightfully charming costumes.
