City Winery Philadelphia presents Lissie live on May 18th at 7:30pm.
In 2022 Lissie released her critically acclaimed Americana-tinged indie folk album ‘Carving Canyons’. The album is a fresh chapter in an already impressive career. Produced by Curt Schneider (Patti Smyth, Lucero) and recorded in Nashville, ‘Carving Canyons’ focuses upon finding an inner strength to face the uncertainties of the future, to main hope to battle personal and social adversity - no matter how tough those challenges appear to be. Most recently, Lissie released her new EP “Promises”, a covers EP with a unique touch. She has picked a six-song collection of famous and renowned songs that hold personal significance to her own life experiences. That personal touch gives the songs an added layer of emotion, bringing something fresh and unique to material that is still instantly recognisable.
Lissie’s storied career took off with 2010’s ‘Catching A Tiger’ which was certified Gold in the UK, while her other three studio albums have all reached the UK Top 20. Her previous album, 2018’s ‘Castles’, was her highest charting record to date when it debuted at #9.
Her other experiences include appearances on the TV shows ‘Twin Peaks’ and most recently, ‘Loudermilk’, where she played Lizzie Poole in the 3rd season and performed her song “When I’m Alone”.

The singer/songwriter-pop duo of Jacob and Chelsea Hamilton, blends indie-pop songwriting with tight vocal harmonies, distinctive guitar tones and inventive arrangements that feel both nostalgic and refreshingly modern.
Recording, producing, filming, and promoting much of their work themselves, the duo crafted a unique sound built on their stripped-down and playful reinterpretations of pop classics along with emotionally resonant original songs earning them a devoted online following.

City Winery Philadelphia presents “Echoes of Soul” A Tribute to The S.O.S. Band &amp; Atlantic Starr featuring Julie Ennis on May 20th at 7:30pm.
Atlantic Starr was one of the most consistently successful – and underrated – soul bands of the 80s and early 90s, with a basketful of memorable songs including “Always”, “Secret Lovers”, “Circles”, “Silver Shadow”, and “Masterpiece”. The S.O.S. Band is an R&amp;B and electro-funk group who also gained fame in the 80s. They are best known for their songs “Take Your Time,” “Just Be Good to Me,” “Tell Me If You Still Care,” and “The Finest.”
Julie Hawkins Ennis is a powerhouse vocalist whose musical roots run deep in the soul of Southern Maryland. After college, Julie began recording under Paul Minor’s guidance as well as that of legendary R&amp;B artist Al Johnson of The Unifics. Under Minor’s development, she was positioned to become a featured female solo act under Verdine White of Earth, Wind &amp; Fire with EMI. “Echoes of Soul” A Tribute to The S.O.S. Band & Atlantic Starr featuring Julie Ennis

Beginning this May and continuing through October, Third Thursdays, hosted by PIDC and Ensemble, will transform Chapel Plaza at the Philadelphia Navy Yard into a lively, family and dog-friendly outdoor gathering space on the third Thursday of each month from 4 to 7 p.m.
Designed as a casual, family-friendly community event, Third Thursdays will feature rotating food trucks, local merchant vendors, live music, lawn games, and outdoor seating, inviting guests to experience the Navy Yard’s scenic waterfront atmosphere and growing neighborhood energy. Each event offers an al fresco-style experience with something for everyone, creating a fun and approachable way for employees, residents, and visitors alike to explore the Navy Yard, support local businesses, and enjoy a scenic setting that feels like an escape from the pace of a long city workday.

Join Rock to the Future for an unforgettable evening of music, talent, and celebration highlighting the incredible achievements of their students. The Year-End Showcase will feature live performances by student bands and choirs, celebrating the hard work and passion they’ve poured into their music all year.
 The event will also honor graduating seniors, who will be celebrated with a scholarship gift and a laptop to support their post-graduation plans. Made possible through the Pathways to Success initiative, the award ceremony will take place during the showcase. 
Attendees are encouraged to consider making a donation to support seniors as they take their next steps.
 This free, family-friendly event will be held at the Venice Island Performing Arts and Recreation Center on Thursday, May 21 from 4:30-8pm. RSVP with the link.
