Sawubona Creativity Project is to create brave spaces where children and adults
can learn and practice vital interpersonal skills, such as social emotional
learning (SEL) competencies and character education (CE). By injecting theatre
into SEL and CE programs, we can create classrooms where students feel a sense

Pathways to Employment Opportunities is an interactive workshop designed to help participants explore career options, develop job-readiness skills, and successfully navigate today's employment landscape. Through guided activities and practical strategies, attendees will learn how to identify their strengths, align their skills with workforce needs, and access resources that support career growth.
Topics include career exploration, resume and cover letter development, job search techniques, networking strategies, interview preparation, and understanding employer expectations. Participants will also gain insight into, training programs, and professional development resources.
This workshop is ideal for job seekers, career changers, recent graduates, and individuals re-entering the workforce who want to build confidence, strengthen their employment prospects, and create a clear pathway toward meaningful and sustainable employment.
Presenters:
Temple University Human Resources Departments will be available to talk about employment opportunities at Temple.
Temple University's Lenfest Center for Community Workforce Partnerships will share information about workforce development training programs and resources available to jobseekers.
The Wardrobe will be facilitating a workshop and will provide clothing vouchers.
Hosted by Temple University's Lenfest Center for Community Workforce Partnerships in collaboration with Total Spark (Total Wireless and EmpowerWork).

Join us for a David Center for the American Revolution Lecture from Michael Auslin, who will be discussing his new book: National Treasure: How the Declaration of Independence Made America.
The inspiring story of the Declaration of Independence—the first to take us from its drafting by Thomas Jefferson to today—charting the many lives of a document that captures the soul of America and has united generations around its defiant ideals, published for the 250th anniversary of America’s founding.
Quiet and politically untested, Thomas Jefferson was not the obvious choice to draft a statement of principles explaining why the American colonies were breaking ties with the King of England. His soaring rhetoric would inspire generations of Americans to live up to the founders’ dreams. National Treasure is the gripping story of our most revered founding relic, as a physical object and a set of ideals that have made America what it is today.
An award-winning historian, Michael Auslin take us from the boarding house in Philadelphia where Jefferson put quill to paper to the Declaration’s covert signing, dissemination in the doldrums of the revolutionary war, and long, harrowing, and ultimately hallowed afterlife. We follow the parchment as it is hauled out of a soon-to-be-burning Washington in 1814 and see it hidden in a dank cellar, posted in classrooms, recited on village greens, printed on handkerchiefs, and used to sell insurance and bundle coal. An inspiration to both Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis in the Civil War, it has grown more important for each new generation. While FDR and Churchill celebrated its commitment to freedom from tyranny, the document itself was lowered into a bunker at Fort Knox. After the war, its precious ink fading, it was painstakingly preserved and enshrined.
Through it all, Jefferson’s words have inspired implausibly varied causes, from suffragists and civil rights leaders to groups waging war on the US government. As Jefferson had hoped, the principles enshrined in the Declaration became a beacon to the world. But what lessons should we take from it today? Can this statement of ideals in whose name the signers pledged their lives and sacred honor bring a disparate nation together? As we gather to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founders’ bold experiment in democracy, Auslin reminds us that this enduring document was not just a call for freedom and equality but an eloquent statement of the principles that bind us together.
This event is hosted by the David Center for the American Revolution at the American Philosophical Society. This event will take place on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. ET at the Visitor Center in Washington Crossing and will also be livestreamed on Zoom.

Fully restored from 2018-2025 and features rooms decorated in different styles spanning the Rococo Revival to the Aesthetic Movement to the Edwardian period, the Museum was awarded the Victorian Society in America Award for the exemplary restoration and rehabilitation. This landmark preserves the legacy of the Grundy family and offers visitors a unique glimpse into life during the Victorian Era. The Museum’s extensive collection is highly unusual for a historic house museum as almost all the items belonged to the Grundy family. The museum serves as a cultural destination for those interested in antiques, local history, and architecture. Docents take visitors through the meticulously restored rooms, showcasing the elaborate furnishings and sharing stories of the Grundy family’s contributions to Bristol Borough, Pennsylvania, and national affairs. Visitors can also enjoy the expansive gardens and riverfront vistas. Visit throughout the year for special programs, exhibits, and holiday events, including the annual Victorian Holiday House.
