As part of Philadelphia’s 250th anniversary celebrations, the Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia (CSFP) will present Fresh Perspectives: Student Art Showcase, a pop-up installation at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), located at 118–128 N Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA. On view from June 29 through July 14, the exhibit features a curated collection of artwork from students across CSFP partner schools, highlighting the creativity and perspective of young people throughout the city. Fresh Perspectives invites the public to experience Philadelphia through the eyes of its next generation, centering student voice, storytelling, and community during this historic milestone year.

Written by Randall Lane and Todd Schwartz, directed by Kyle Metzger, and music directed by Luke McGinnis, the production follows Franklin’s rise from runaway apprentice to international celebrity, tracing his evolution as inventor, provocateur, lover, and revolutionary. Set against the backdrop of a young nation finding its voice, the musical draws powerful parallels between the birth of America and the rise of its most defiant art form: Rock ‘n Roll. Blending humor, romance, political intrigue, and electrifying music, The Sound of America transforms the story of Philadelphia’s favorite son into an epic rock musical about identity, rebellion, and the creation of a true American voice. For this month’s Art at Noon, explore the expansive reach of Elizabeth Catlett’s praxes as a groundbreaking artist, educator, and interlocutor. Independent curator and art historian Charmaine Branch will discuss Catlett’s pedagogy in relation to her sculpture and printmaking practices.
Branch will pay particular attention to the educational and artistic communities Catlett navigated throughout her life. Catlett’s relationships with fellow Black women artists illuminate the interconnected networks of friends, collaborators, mentors, and mentees who laid the foundation for African Diasporic artistic production and historiography from the mid-twentieth century into the early twenty-first century.

Fountain&nbsp;View invites the public to attend a book signing and release party for 'Home, anew' on Thursday, July 2 at 2 p.m. to meet the voices from this community that were selected to contribute their stories to the book. Some residents will also read their personal stories aloud.

Warren C. Longmire (alongmirewriter) is a poet, multi-media artist and educator from the North Philadelphia. His work explores western identity, black masculinities, technology and hope. His latest book, Bird/Diz lan erased history of bebop] (BUNNY Presse) was released in Nov. 2022. Warren is a graduate of the Iowa Writer's Workshop circa May 2026.
Novari Montese is a Germantown native, poet, and devoted Philly sports fan whose work reflects the rhythms of everyday life, love, and resilience. Since becoming a mother in 2020, she took a brief hiatus from writing during the pandemic, returning to her craft with renewed perspective and depth. Prior to that, she partnered with the Center for Art in Wood for a poetry showcase that highlighted her unique voice and artistic range. When she's not writing, Novari enjoys concerts with her fiance, the gym, reading, and having dance parties with her five-year-old and their dog Louie. Her debut poetry collection, The Art of Eating Slowly, is set to be released this Fall.
