Historic Fort Mifflin invites you to experience a holiday event with a twist at its first-ever Krampusnacht Festival on December 5th only. Moving far beyond the usual cheerful Christmas village, this unique celebration dives into the ancient European folklore of Krampusnacht, the "dark companion" of Saint Nicholas who punishes the naughty. 
Attendees can explore the historic grounds while enjoying a night of thrilling live entertainment, vendors, music, and games, all complemented by offerings from local breweries and distilleries and many local vendors selling gothy and punk alternatives to your usual Christmas cheer. Don't miss this one-night-only chance to embrace the spookier side of the season!

Play Jams are offered twice a month (second Sundays &amp; final Tuesdays) inviting participants out of their bot-brains and into their bodies. Facilitators offer a structure of theatre games and creative exercises to spark spontaneous collaboration, exploration, and hahaha-ification-sensations. We welcome people where they are, and encourage a supportive, safe, and celebratory time for joyful abandon.&nbsp;
WHO: All adults age 18+! These sessions are great as a creative tool for performers and artists of all kinds, but it is beneficial for anybody searching for a little movement, connection, and levity in their life. Jams are currently capped at 18 participants.&nbsp;

HOW MUCH:&nbsp; $10-$30 sliding scale. Your spot is reserved once payment is received. Walk-ins are welcome should there be available slots left.&nbsp;
PLAY•JAM strives to keep fees low in order to make Jams financially-accessible and trust you to pay what you can afford. These fees cover space rental cost, and provide modest stipends for the time and energy of facilitators and admin. If you would like to participate but you can’t do the fees, please reach out to discuss what accommodations can be made.&nbsp;

Join the American Philosophical Society for a conversation with acclaimed geophysicist and current National Academy of Sciences President, Marcia McNutt. Reflecting on her own experiences and research within the geophysical and Earth sciences, as well as her role as a scientific leader, adviser, and popularizer, McNutt will discuss the 18th-century meteorological records kept by James Madison and their implications for contemporary approaches to climate and citizen science. From the observations of weather conditions and crop cycles taken at his Montpelier plantation to his support of Thomas Jefferson's efforts to track and document the damage caused by the wheat-destroying Hessian fly, Madison left careful records that speak to the potential and limits of collective scientific work. This program will consider the opportunities and challenges of so-called “citizen science”–both in the 18th century and today–and will offer some strategies for how to mobilize scientific networks in times of crisis.

This event will be held onsite at the American Philosophical Society in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as well as livestreamed.
