Cliveden offers free house tours on Saturday, August 8th, part of <a href="https://cliveden.org/second-saturdays/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Second Saturdays at Cliveden</a>!House tours are available 12 pm to 4 pm and begin in the Barn (98 E. Cliveden Street, 19119). Each tour begins on the hour and is a one-hour guided experience; the last tour of the day is at  3 pm. Visitors will be guided through the site, including the grounds and the first and second floors of the Chew House, and feature two exhibitions: <a href="https://cliveden.org/tours/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Procuring Liberty in the Emerging Nation</a> and <a href="https://cliveden.org/radical-americana-exhibition/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Looking Glass</a>.No advanced registration is needed; visitors should come to the Barn and request a tour from a Cliveden Interpreter during tour hours.

Join us and Common Press at the University of Pennsylvania for a unique, hands-on tribute to the man who gave the Declaration of Independence its first physical form. On Sunday, August 2, we are gathering at the historic gravesite of John Dunlap, the official printer to the Continental Congress, for a special typographic celebration.
In honor of the upcoming 250th anniversary of Dunlap’s monumental "broadside" printing, the Common Press will be onsite with two portable printing presses.
Whether you’re a history buff, a design enthusiast, or just curious about the craft, this is your chance to step back in time, see demonstrations up close, and honor a Philadelphia patriot at his final resting place.
<h3>How to Attend &amp; Ticket Option:</h3>
<ul><li>Burial Ground Admission &amp; Printing Experience ($15): Includes general admission the burial ground, PLUS a guaranteed hands-on spot at a portable press during your selected 15-minute window. You will work with a printer from the Common Press to operate the press and print your own custom typographic souvenir to take home.</li><li>Strictly Limited: To ensure a high-quality, unhurried experience, only 24 printing spots are available (2 spots per 15-minute window). Please select your preferred time slot at checkout.</li></ul>
<h3>Important Logistics:</h3>
<ul><li>Arrive Early: Please arrive at the burial ground at least 5 minutes before your scheduled timeslot to check in.</li><li>Timing: Because the presses run on a strict schedule (2 printers every 15 minutes), late arrivals cannot be accommodated and may forfeit their printing spot to standby guests on the grounds.</li></ul>

The 2026 Conference includes an exciting lineup of acclaimed artists, featuring artists from Philadelphia’s vibrant theatre community, including Suli Holum, Noelle Diane Johnson, Anthony Martinez-Briggs, Michael A. Stahler, and Steve A. Wright, alongside Broadway artists Charlie Thurston, Danilo Gambini, and many more.

Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts

Join us for the Opening Reception of In This Community, an exhibition that spotlights artists who utilize and engage in PAFA’s dynamic community and facilities through Shop Memberships, the Continuing Education (CE) Studio Critique Program, and studio rentals. These emerging and accomplished artists continually bring their creativity and energy to the Academy’s vibrant spaces, making PAFA the thriving community that it is.
Launched in 2025, PAFA’s Shop Membership initiative gives users the opportunity to access state-of-the-art printmaking, papermaking, and sculpture facilities and hone their skills and actualize ideas within a professional, creative environment. The CE Studio Programs include Summer/Studio Critique and Taking a Leap to Start or Advance Your Studio Practice. Both are designated for visual artists who desire constructive feedback on their artwork, as well as the support and interaction of an artistic community. Through group critiques, discussions, and studio visits, the programs offer a stimulating platform for professional artistic growth. Alumni studio rentals have been ongoing at PAFA. Within the past year, the Studio Rental Program has opened up to artists beyond the Academy, inviting local Philadelphia artists to participate. Building and maintaining their practice, these artists use their individual spaces to engage in their projects while being in community with others.
These diverse participants not only help foster PAFA’s robust artistic culture, but also invigorate the community with their continued presence, creative curiosity, and dedicated engagement within the Academy’s unique facilities.

Join us for the Opening Reception of <a href="https://www.pafa.org/museum/exhibitions/heard-herd" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Heard: Herd</a>, an installation by Ian Butz (MFA '25). Heard: Herd provides viewers an opportunity to experience being part of a bison herd and by doing so, grasp the cultural importance of bison, historically and today. Bison are tremendously beneficial to the environment and plains ecosystem. In addition to environmental benefits, rehoming and re-establishing bison in the wild allows Native Americans to reclaim part of their spirituality and strength as Indigenous Nations.
Acrylic on translucent PVC fabric with a transcendent, multi-sided experience, the Bison paintings were largely inspired by Ian’s personal travels to Montana, Utah, Wyoming, and South Dakota in 2025. The installation showcases landscapes as a visual narrative tool, evoking the atmospheric, otherworldly nature of being out West as a traveler.

Fully restored from 2018-2025 and features rooms decorated in different styles spanning the Rococo Revival to the Aesthetic Movement to the Edwardian period, the Museum was awarded the Victorian Society in America Award for the exemplary restoration and rehabilitation. This landmark preserves the legacy of the Grundy family and offers visitors a unique glimpse into life during the Victorian Era. The Museum’s extensive collection is highly unusual for a historic house museum as almost all the items belonged to the Grundy family.
