<a href="https://blackstarfest.org/festival" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">BlackStar Film Festival</a> is an annual celebration of the visual and storytelling traditions of the global majority, showcasing films by Black, Brown, and Indigenous people from around the world. The 15th BlackStar Film Festival will take place from August 6-9 on Broad Street in Philadelphia as well as online around the world. There will be screenings, panels, parties, and other events.

Join the Museum of the American Revolution as participants in the Living History Youth Summer Institute set up the Museum’s replica of George Washington’s Revolutionary War encampment at FDR Park as part of its <a target="_blank" href="https://www.amrevmuseum.org/learn-and-explore/first-oval-office-project" rel="nofollow noopener">First Oval Office Project</a>, dress in 18th-century costumes, and display the lives of soldiers, camp followers, and free and enslaved people and their connections to Washington. This event is free and open to the public. It is a rain or shine event and runs from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Among the best-known buildings of Germantown are the sturdy, elegant stone structures known today as <a href="https://cliveden.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Cliveden</a>, <a href="https://www.johnsonhouse.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">the Johnson House</a>, the <a href="https://www.meetinghouse.info/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Germantown Mennonite Meeting House</a>, and the <a href="https://www.concordschoolhouse.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Concord School House</a>. Remarkably, these structures can all be attributed to one builder, Jacob Knorr. This tour will bring visitors into these charming and significant sites. We will investigate what we know about the building of early Germantown, and what mysteries remain.Tickets are available for purchase online; advanced registration is encouraged. Cliveden offers free house tours on Saturday, August 8th, part of <a href="https://cliveden.org/second-saturdays/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Second Saturdays at Cliveden</a>!House tours are available 12 pm to 4 pm and begin in the Barn (98 E. Cliveden Street, 19119). Each tour begins on the hour and is a one-hour guided experience; the last tour of the day is at&nbsp; 3 pm. Visitors will be guided through the site, including the grounds and the first and second floors of the Chew House, and feature two exhibitions: <a href="https://cliveden.org/tours/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Procuring Liberty in the Emerging Nation</a> and <a href="https://cliveden.org/radical-americana-exhibition/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Looking Glass</a>.No advanced registration is needed; visitors should come to the Barn and request a tour from a Cliveden Interpreter during tour hours.

Fully restored from 2018-2025 and features rooms decorated in different styles spanning the Rococo Revival to the Aesthetic Movement to the Edwardian period, the Museum was awarded the Victorian Society in America Award for the exemplary restoration and rehabilitation. This landmark preserves the legacy of the Grundy family and offers visitors a unique glimpse into life during the Victorian Era. The Museum’s extensive collection is highly unusual for a historic house museum as almost all the items belonged to the Grundy family. The museum serves as a cultural destination for those interested in antiques, local history, and architecture. Docents take visitors through the meticulously restored rooms, showcasing the elaborate furnishings and sharing stories of the Grundy family’s contributions to Bristol Borough, Pennsylvania, and national affairs.
