Join HMS School for our 5th Annual Community Day as we celebrate 144 years of HMS, our students, and World Cerebral Palsy Day. 
Saturday, October 3rd | 11 a.m.–2 p.m. 
Featuring a live performance by Ants on a Log, a special visit from Phang, Philadelphia Union’s mascot, games and prizes, face and pumpkin painting, a sensory zone, raffles featuring exclusive local adventures and sports items, and more. Free food from sponsors like Geno’s Cheese Steaks, Center City Pretzels, Carlino’s Pizza and more! 
Free and open to the community. All ages are welcome. 
HMS Community Day is our biggest fundraiser of the year, supporting essential programs, therapies and opportunities for our students.

Candlelight: Tribute to Taylor Swift

Pier Players Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Big Babies, a hilarious new farcical comedy by Kate Brennan and David Lee White.
Seemingly-happy couple Janus and Troy host their first adults-only dinner party since having a child, but the sophisticated night that they had hoped for takes a startling turn. In this hilarious and chaotic farcical romp, these "mature" adults devolve into the Big Babies that they truly are.
Big Babies is written by Jonathan Larson Grant Finalists Kate Brennan and David Lee White (known together as Brennan &amp; White). The show is directed by Deborah Lynn Meier and is produced by Pier Players' Artistic Director Chelsea Cylinder. This production marks Pier Players' third collaboration with David Lee White, who also wrote Etiquette and the book for The Angry Grammarian, and second collaboration with Deborah Lynn Meier, who directed their production of Ink &amp; Paint.
<ins>About Pier Players Theatre Company</ins>
Pier Players is a theatre company dedicated to promoting, supporting, and giving a platform to the Philadelphia community’s new works and new visions for pre-existing pieces. Pier Players recently received local, national, and international attention for its 2024 productions of the musical romantic comedy <a href="https://www.theangrygrammarian.com/musical" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Angry Grammarian</a>. The company presented the world premiere production in March 2024 at Theatre Exile, and, by popular demand, remounted the production in September 2024 at the Arden Theatre Company’s Arcadia Stage. Their work was Barrymore recommended, named one of the top things to do in Philadelphia, and was also featured in major publications, including <a href="https://www.newyorker.com/culture/comma-queen/a-musical-for-and-about-grammar-sticklers" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The New Yorker</a>. The following spring, in March 2025, the company collaborated with The Media Theatre on the Philadelphia premiere of the new musical <a href="https://www.broadwayworld.com/philadelphia/article/Philadelphia-Premiere-of-INK-PAINT-Comes-to-the-Media-Theatre-20250212" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Ink &amp; Paint</a> by Danielle E. Moore, which just had a <a href="https://playbill.com/article/sierra-boggess-jason-gotay-gizel-jimenez-more-will-lead-ink-paint-musical-reading" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">public reading</a> in collaboration with Roundabout Theatre Company and Newport New Works starring Broadway’s Sierra Boggess and Ashley Spencer. Shortly after, Pier Players presented the first-ever production of David Lee White's <a href="https://www.broadstreetreview.com/reviews/philly-fringe-2025-pier-players-theatre-company-presents-david-lee-whites-etiquette" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Etiquette</a>, which received rave reviews and earned the company its second Barrymore Recommendation. Established in 2022, Pier Players has produced 7 different shows and has recently been recognized as <a href="https://southphillyreview.com/2026/03/29/pier-players-a-growing-part-of-phillys-arts-scene/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">"a growing part of Philly's arts scene."</a>&nbsp;

With Mann’s recent passing this year, the family made the difficult decision to close Gary Mann Jewelers—the family business. They ran for many decades in the Manayunk neighborhood—and will hold a final, going-out-of-business sale open to the public beginning September 24, 2026.During the sale, customers looking for great discounts on high-quality fine jewelry will have the opportunity to discover many unique, one-of-a-kind custom pieces.
