Jon Smith is a south Philadelphia bassist, who has been teaming up with some of the most talented musicians to bring funky bass melodies to life.
Jon started studying bass with his father, Ken Smith of Ken Smith Basses at the age of 5. Raised in Perkasie, PA, Jon moved to Philadelphia to study music at the University of the Arts. While in Philadelphia, he studied with Charles Fambrough, Steve Beskrone and Gerald Veasley.
Jon has performed and recorded with artists and producers such as Birdy, Jazmine Sullivan, Pete Rock, Vidal Davis, Keyon Harold, Takuya Kuroda, Madison Ryann Ward, Adrian Gurvitz, Raheem Devaughn, Charity, Kindred and the Family Soul, Corey Bernhard, Flanafi, Steve Mckie, Hiruy Tirfe, and Max Swan. He has created a sound of his own you want to be sure to experience at the SPARC!
After Hours Jazz is curated by Hiruy Tirfe and is held at the SPARC the second Saturday of each month.
