Car Tied To Philly Mass Shooting Leads Police Chase In New Jersey

According to reports, a vehicle linked to the shooting that hurt nine people in Kensington over the weekend led a chase into New Jersey.

PHILADELPHIA — Authorities said they chased a vehicle sought in connection with shootings in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood into New Jersey Wednesday night.

According to Action News, the chase began at about 9:30 p.m. in Kensington when police saw a vehicle that matched the description of that involved in the Saturday shooting on the 800 block of East Allegheny Avenue.

Nine people, ages 23 to 40, were hurt in the shooting.

The vehicle sped off toward Interstate 95, onto the Betsy Ross Bridge, and into Evesham Township, Fox 29 reports.

Evesham Police Chief Walt Miller said the chase ended in the parking lot of Bradley's Funeral Home on Route 73.

The suspect fled on foot, but was eventually taken into custody without incident, Miller said.

Authorities believed a second person was in the vehicle, but Miller said police were unable to confirm a second person was there.

The vehicle was towed back to Philadelphia to be searched for clues, NBC10 reports.

It's unclear if charges have been filed in connection with the shooting yet.
