Center City SIPS Returns June 5 For 20th Anniversary

PHILADELPHIA — Center City District's SIPS summer-long happy hour event is turning 20 this year, and the fun kicks off Wednesday, June 5.

SIPS is every Wednesday through Aug. 28 at dozens of bars and restaurants, offering exclusive discounts found only in Center City.

Every week from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., participating establishments will serve $7 cocktails, including specials made with Hornitos Tequila, $6 wine, $5 beer and half-price appetizers. After 7 p.m., select locations will provide 15 percent off dinner.

"For the last twenty years, SIPS has been a must-do event for many young professionals working and living in Center City" said Prema Katari Gupta, President and CEO of the Center City District. "We now recognize that in-person events and socialization are more important than ever and we are thrilled to continue this iconic event."

For the first time, Center City District is introducing a limited-edition beer made in partnership with local brewery, Broad Street Brewing: SIPS Summer Splash. The brew is a Mexican-style lager with lime, will be sold exclusively at Dilworth Park’s Air Grille throughout the summer and will be available during SIPS for only $5. Additional Air Grille specials include $7 Hornitos Tequila cocktails, $6 wine and $5 76 & Sunny beer, plus weekly food specials.

On June 5, June 12, and June 26, the Rothman Orthopaedics Roller Rink will be open exclusively for SIPS at Dilworth Park patrons. A rink ticket is required to skate and can be purchased online here. No food or drink will be permitted on the rink.

In commemoration of CCD SIPS’ 20th anniversary, Dilworth Park will host the official CCD SIPS Preview Party in partnership with Wooder Ice on Wednesday, May 22. The one-night-only event will feature exclusive SIPS pricing, live DJ entertainment, giveaways and activations courtesy of Hornitos Tequila and Broad Street Brewing and run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Attendance is free for all guests 21 and older. The Preview Party will also mark the official launch of SIPS Summer Splash.
