Charges Filed In Deadly June Carjacking: Philadelphia Police
Authorities said 21-year-old Tysean Forsythe shot and killed 47-year-old military veteran and mother Heather Rainey the night of June 22.
PHILADELPHIA — Authorities in Philadelphia have taken a man into custody in connection with a deadly June carjacking.
According to police, Tysean Forsythe, 21, was charged with murder, carjacking, robbery, and firearm violations.
The charges stem from a fatal June 22 shooting on the 700 block of West Poplar Street.

Police were called to the area for a report of a person with a gun at about 10:39 p.m. that night.
Philadelphia Housing Authority officers found 47-year-old Heather Rainey suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. She was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 10:58 p.m.

Action New reports Rainey was a military veteran and a mother.
Preliminary investigations revealed Rainey’s 2017 Dodge Durango was found at the scene with its engine running, a smashed window, and personal belongings scattered inside the vehicle.
Further investigation identified Forsythe, with a last known address on the 800 block of North 20th Street, as a suspect.
A warrant was issued for Forsythe’s arrest on charges of murder and related crimes.
On Wednesday, officers investigating a stolen vehicle encountered Forsythe on the 2000 block of East Wishart Street.
Recognizing his fugitive status, officers chased Forsythe on foot and took him into custody without incident on the 1900 block of East Allegheny Avenue.
