Thy Geekdon Con put together one of PA's popular convention this weekend in Oaks PA . The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center , which has been the home of the small scale comic convention for the last few years.

With so many conventions from so many production companies, smaller cities like Oaks PA , serve as considerably more affordable alternatives for east coasters who won’t be making the trip to San Diego or couldn’t figure out the system to get a ticket to New York Comic Con in October (already sold out to “verified fans”). Attendees of TGC could walk right in and buy a ticket on site (an option not offered in New York or San Diego). The lower cost of vending space likely proved to be an asset to exhibitors hoping to turn a profit. Free parking was just the icing on the cake.

Though limited, the talent on site showed great enthusiasm when taking pictures with their fans and autographing everything from prints to comics to VHS movies to toys. Vendors, authors, illustrators, designers, cosplay models, and charity groups were set up all over the convention floor .

Many attendees were dressed as their favorite superheroes, supervillains, or rogues in the cases of Star Wars bounty hunters or Marvel’s Deadpool.
