Here are the top three stories in Philadelphia today:

  1. On the weekend of The Masters, one of golf's most historic and reviled tournaments, a man was found dead on a golf course in the Overbrook section of the city. Police report his death as "suspicious" as he had no identification nor personal items on him. (WPVI-TV)
  2. She could have made history as the first Latina female mayor of Philadelphia. But this weekend, Marie Quinones-Sanchez has suspended her campaign for mayor. On Easter Sunday, the former city councilwoman sent out this statement: "I am sorry to be suspending my campaign. I ran for mayor because I've lived every challenge this city faces and with my policy and legislative experience, I felt I could tackle our city's challenges head-on." (The Philadelphia Inquirer)
  3. Even Easter Sunday does not pause gun violence in Philadelphia. At 6:30 p.m. last evening, a 17 year-old male was shot in the stomach and back on the 6700 block of Ogontz Avenue. Police recovered a firearm at the scene and have a suspect in custody. The victim is in critical condition at Einstein Medical Center. (6abc Philadelphia)

  • Has it been 50 years already? Yep, in 1973, 'Jesus Christ, Superstar' glorified the Broadway stage and we've been singing its praises for five decades. Celebrate the big 5-0 at the Miller Theatre in Philly.(WPVI-TV)
  • ACCT Philly Needs Cover: "Can you believe that we go through 500 pounds of laundry in three days?😲 Due to the volume of pets we are getting in, we are in desperate need of donations of blankets, towels and bedding. (ACCT Philly via Facebook)
