PHILADELPHIA — The man captured in a viral video smashing the rear windshield of a car then pulling out a gun in Center City Philadelphia last year was hit with prison time and probation recently.

Cody Heron, 27, pleaded guilty in February to aggravated assault of a victim less than 13 years old and possession of an instrument of crime after he was charged in connection with the Oct. 1, 2023 incident near City Hall.

According to court documents, Heron will spend 1 to 4 years in state prison and will be on probation for 5 years.

Heron was captured on camera walking away from his dirt bike and toward a car stopped in the road near City Hall on Oct. 1, 2023, during an unauthorized motor "meet-up" before leaping onto the back windshield and smashing it with his feet.

Video showed an object appearing to be a handgun fall from the Heron's pants as he jumps off the car. The driver, Nikki Bullock, steps out and confronts the suspect, who pulls his gun on her and shoves her.

Heron then got back onto his bike and Bullock pushed him, knocking over him and his bike.

He drove off from the scene as Bullock got back to her car and picked up a small child before walking out of frame and leaving the vandalized car behind.

Authorities said Bullock's girlfriend and their two young children were in the car at the time.

The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office said Heron tried to evade accountability by destroying evidence, going as far as using another person’s online profile to deflect attention from investigators.

In a statement just days after the incident, defense attorney Justin Capek said the video of the confrontation showed "only a portion of a much lengthier incident." While Capek didn't elaborate on what the rest of the video shows, he said it paints Heron in a "significantly different light."
