Dog Shot After Attacking Owners In Philadelphia: Reports

PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia Police officer shot a dog that was attacking its owners Thursday.

According to NBC10, the incident occurred at about 1 a.m. Thursday at 5th and Venango streets.

A man was being attacked by his dog, a pit bull mix, when police arrived, Fox 29 reports.

The dog was locked on to the man's arm and would not let go even as it was being hit with a baseball bat, prompting police to shoot the dog, according to Action News.

The man and his wife were taken to a hospital for numerous dog bite injuries.

The dog survived and was taken by animal control, according to reports.
