Here are the top stories today in Philadelphia:

  1. A 5-year-old girl was viciously stabbed by her mother's ex-boyfriend. Sean Tucker, age 28, was arrested by Philadelphia Police on North 20th Street after they answered an emergency call and found the 37 year-old woman and her 5 year-old daughter bleeding from stab wounds. Both were rushed to area hospitals and are in critical condition. ( 6abc Philadelphia)
  2. Philadelphia playgrounds, parks and recreation centers are supposed to be safe zones for all city residents and visitors. However, due to Philadelphia's gun violence and lawlessness that spills into the parks and rec centers, security cameras are being installed to deter crime and establish "safe zones." The first batch of 100 cameras will be installed near 13 rec centers thanks to nearly $5 million allocated by City Council. (6abc Philadelphia)
  3. Police responded to gunshots fired at a Tacony McDonalds on the 6400 block of Torresdale Avenue on Tuesday evening. They found 17 shell casings, shot out windows of the fast food restaurant and an 18-year-old man shot in the hip and bleeding in the restroom. No arrests have been made. (fox29.com)

From my notebook:

  • File this under: "Why we can't have nice things". This past Tuesday evening was the infamous and beloved "$1 Dog Night" at Citizens Bank Park for the Phillies Game. Usually DDN's attract more people than primary elections in Philly and the fans did not disappoint. Of course, with hot dogs being only $1, a hot dog eating contest was started in the stands. That led to a food fight. Did we mention there was beer? And plenty of fan ejections from the park. (6abc Philadelphia)
  • Well, Lisa Ann Walter really fooled me, I thought she was from 10th and Shunk. The 2nd grade teacher on "Abbott Elementary" sat down with GMA hosts and did not have her Philly accent! But then she went right into the (215) dialect. (WPVI-TV)
