Ex Union Boss John 'Johnny Doc' Doughtery Guilty Of Embezzlement, More

PHILADELPHIA — The former business manager for Philadelphia's electricians' union has been found guilty of embezzlement and related crimes, according to reports.

John "Johnny Doc" Dougherty, 63, was found guilty of embezzlement, conspiracy and wire and tax fraud, but was acquitted on three counts, Thursday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Dougherty was the Business Manager of Local 98 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Additionally, Fox 29 reports the union's former president Brian Burrows was found guilty on conspiracy and related charges.

Dougherty was found guilty of one count of conspiracy to commit honest services fraud, and seven counts of honest services wire fraud this March in a separate case.

Related to that case, former Philadelphia Councilman Bobby Henon was convicted of one count of conspiracy to commit honest services fraud, eight counts of honest services wire fraud, and one count of bribery.

Dougherty and Henon defrauded the City of Philadelphia and its citizens of the right to Henon’s honest services as a member of City Council, authorities said

Evidence presented during the trial showed Henon got a salary and other things of value from Dougherty and, in exchange, Henon used his position as a member of City Council to serve Dougherty’s interests.
