Fender Bender Ends With Carjacking At Philadelphia Gas Station

An armed man stole the vehicle of another driver he was involved in a fender bender with in early September at a gas station, police said.

PHILADELPHIA — A man was carjacked after trying to do the right thing in a fender bender situation earlier this month, Philadelphia Police said.

According to police, the incident occurred at about 8:20 p.m. Sept. 2 at a gas station at 4200 G Street

The victim was leaving the business's parking lot onto 700 block of Hunting Park Avenue when it struck a white vehicle that was also pulling out onto the road.

Both vehicles stopped and when the victim got out of his vehicle to exchange information with the other driver, the people in the other vehicle demanded cash, saying they don't have insurance, policed said.

That's when one of the men in the other vehicle showed the victim a handgun and said he was going to take the victim's vehicle if he didn't pay cash, police said.

The armed man then got into the victim's vehicle and drove off heading west on Hunting Park Avenue, with the white vehicle following, police said.

No one was hurt, and no other items were taken, according to police.
