Fire At Jim's Steaks Under Control, Fire Marshal Investigating
A fire broke out at the iconic South Street cheesesteak spot Friday morning, according to the Philadelphia Fire Department.

PHILADELPHIA — A fire that broke out at Jim's Steaks, an iconic cheesesteak spot on Philadelphia's bustling South Street, is under control.
According to the Philadelphia Fire Department, the fire was placed under control at about 1:33 p.m. Friday after firefighters began investigating smoke at the business at Fourth and South streets at about 9:25 a.m.
The fire was elevated to two alarms at 10:22 a.m., officials said.

The city's Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
Crews were focusing on the building ductwork and the heating ventilation air conditioning units when battling the fire.
Jim's owner Ken Silver told the Philadelphia Inquirer that the business's HVAC system had been malfunctioning and one of the assistant managers reported smelling an electrical odor when she arrived early Friday morning.
The manager saw smoke and had all workers evacuate.
Silver told the outlet the fire could result in a total loss, but said he would rebuild the shop.
No one was reportedly injured in the fire.
