"Eric has made an incredible and lasting impact on the Flyers organization, our fans, and the game of hockey as a whole," Flyers President Paul Holmgren said in the announcement. "We could not be more proud to raise his number 88 to the rafters. We look forward to what is anticipated to be a historic night for the Flyers."

Lindros spent eight seasons on the ice in Philly, lacing up his skates for 468 games, after joining in 1992. He was traded in 2001 to the New York Rangers, but made his lasting impact in Philly with the "Legion of Doom" front line with John LeClair and Mikael Renberg.
