Former Philadelphia School Cop Charged With Child Sex Abuse
The former school police officer facing numerous charges, including involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, intimidation, and more.
PHILADELPHIA — A former school police officer in Philadelphia is facing numerous charged related to child sex abuse stemming from a 2013 incident, according to court records and a news report.
Howard Rubin, 51, of Philadelphia, has been charged with felony involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, witness/victim intimidation, statutory sexual assault of a person 11 years or older, indecent assault of a person under 13 years old, displaying obscene sexual materials, and more.
Rubin was arraigned on Feb. 1 and held after failing to post 10 percent of $3 million bail, court records show.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred around July 2013 when he was employed as a school police office at the Multicultural Academy Charter School in Hunting Park.
About year after the alleged incident, the school fired Rubin, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Philadelphia Gay News reported Rubin later sued CBS Philadelphia for reporting the allegations against him and his firing from the school.
However, Rubin later withdrew his suit against the news station, the Inquirer reports.
Rubin was known as the "Philly Hip Hop Cop" for his security work with rappers.
According to JumpPhilly.org, Rubin spent decades working security for numerous hip hop artists, including Biggie Smalls and Lil’ Kim.
He was shot in the neck and later robbed of his cell phone in 2010 outside a Sunoco gas station on Girard Avenue in West Philadelphia, according to CBS Philadelphia.
Rubin's preliminary hearing has not been scheduled due to Philadelphia courts being closed by the coronavirus.
