Gas Explosion Collapses 2 Homes, Injures 5 In Philadelphia: Reports

A New Year's Day gas explosion in Philadelphia's Port Richmond section caused two homes to collapse and sent five people to the hospital.

PHILADELPHIA — A gas explosion sent five people to the hospital and destroyed two homes in Philadelphia's Port Richmond neighborhood in the early hours of New Year's Day.

According to Action News, the explosion occurred at about 2:43 a.m. Sunday at a home on the 3500 block of Miller Street.

At least one person who was hospitalized was listed in critical condition, according to Fox 29.

More than 40 homes were damaged in addition to the two homes that collapsed in the explosion, NBC10 reports.
