Gritty 5K Run-Walk Set For Oct 22 In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA — The antics of Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty have earned him the love of not just Philly fans, but countless others from outside the region.

And once again, Gritty's wily attitude is coming to fruition with a 5K run and walk in October.

The Gritty 5K will take place at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Wells Fargo Center.

Registration is $50 for adults and $40 for kids up to age 12.

Virtual participation from Oct. 8 to Oct. 24 is just $45. Kids up to 12 years old can participate for $35.

Registration gets you a one-of-a-kind Gritty 5K t-shirt, exclusive finisher's medal, and a Flyers game ticket.

Along the course will be hot dogs, face paint, relaxation, games, cake, and other secret surprises.

Runners and walkers can also get a chance to win "Best in Fur" by donning their best orange fur.

Awards will also be given for the fastest male and female runners by Gritty himself. Other surprise awards will be handed out, as well.

Race packet and gear pick up will take place from noon to 8 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the Wells Fargo Center. Participants can also choose to have their race gear shipped to them. All gear will ship in early October. If registered by Oct. 2, gear will ship in early October; if registering after Oct. 2, gear will ship after Oct. 22

Virtual participants receive finishers' medals and t-shirts in the mail at no additional charge.

All proceeds from the event benefit Flyers Charities’ mission.
