Traffic Flowing Slowly On I-76 East After Brush Fire In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA — Traffic on Interstate 76 east in Philadelphia is flowing again, albeit slowly, after a brush fire on nearby train tacks closed a portion of the highway temporarily Tuesday afternoon.

I-76 east has a lane restriction between the Girard Avenue/Philadelphia Zoo exit (Exit 342) and Spring Garden Street exit (Exit 343), according to 511PA.

A ramp restriction is also in effect on the Spring Garden Street exit.

According to officials, there is fire department activity in the area due to the brush fire.

Drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes, as well as allow for additional travel time.

PennDOT traffic cameras show traffic on Interstate 76 east moving, but very slowly, as of 4:15 p.m.
