Interstate 76 Lanes Closing Overnight This Week: PennDOT

PHILADELPHIA — Interstate 76 will have overnight lane closures this week to accommodate work related to a resurfacing and road repair project, PennDOT said.

The work is part of a $36.8 million project to resurface and repair nearly five miles of the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps, and more than 20 bridges.

Below are traffic impacts from the work:

• Monday, Aug.5, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between the Spring Garden Street and Girard Avenue/Philadelphia Zoo interchanges for guiderail and attenuator replacement.
• Monday, Aug.5, and Tuesday, Aug.6, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, the ramp from southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) to westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) will be closed and detoured for paving. Motorists will be directed to use eastbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) and exit at Montgomery Drive to access westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway).
• Monday, Aug.5, and Tuesday, Aug.6, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, the ramp from westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) to southbound U.S. 1 (City Avenue) will be closed and detoured for paving. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route.
• Monday, Aug.5, through Friday, Aug.9, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on eastbound and westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between the 30th Street and Girard Avenue/Philadelphia Zoo interchanges for milling.
• Monday, Aug.5, through Friday, Aug.9, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on the ramp/merge from southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) to eastbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) for bridge deck repairs.
• Tuesday, Aug.6, and Wednesday, Aug.7, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, the ramp from westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) to Lincoln Drive (Exit 340A) will be closed and detoured for paving. Motorists will be directed to use westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway), exit at Belmont Avenue and use the eastbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) to access the ramp to Lincoln Drive.
• Wednesday, Aug.7, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on the merge lane from eastbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) to southbound U.S. 1 (City Avenue) for guiderail installation.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas because backups and delays will occur.
