Joe Biden Taps Philadelphia For Campaign Headquarters

Former Vice President Joe Biden will plant his campaign's roots here in Philadelphia. He's holding a rally in the city May 18.

PHILADELPHIA — With strong ties to the city and state, it makes sense Joe Biden has tapped Philadelphia as his campaign headquarters.

The former Vice President and Senator from Delaware recently announced Philadelphia will be the home for his 2020 presidential campaign Thursday.

“We’re proud to anchor our campaign in the birthplace of American democracy,” said Greg Schultz, Campaign Manager, Biden for President. “Philadelphia is a thriving city and a testament to the American spirit, built by the ingenuity and tenacity of ordinary people who did extraordinary things. Its storied history and celebrated diversity will serve as an inspiration for Team Biden, and is the ideal setting to continue our fight for the soul of this nation.”

Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden both have strong Keystone State connection.

Biden was born in Scranton and attended the University of Scranton. He most recently has served as the Benjamin Franklin Professor of Presidential Practice at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Biden attended West Chester University and Villanova University.

A campaign event is being held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at the Eakins Oval on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia.

Entry to the event starts at 11 a.m.

The rally is expected to last until 2:30 p.m.
