The song's popularity could be attributed to Travis Kelce dating pop superstar Taylor Swift, with some speculating the Swifties heavily contributed to the track's success.
More attention to the cover and the original track, as The Pogues founder and frontman Shane MacGowan died at 65 years old in Ireland Thursday. MacGowan earlier this month praised "A Fairytale of Philadelphia," saying on social media he "knocked out" by Travis Kelce's performance on the cover track.
