Man Armed With Knife Killed By Philadelphia Police Monday: Reports
Police shot and killed a 27-year-old man who they said lunged at them with a knife after attempting to make a traffic stop Monday afternoon.
PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Police shot and killed a man Monday afternoon after authorities said he lunged at officers with a knife.
The shooting occurred at about 12:30 p.m. on the 100 block of East Willard Street in Kensington, Action News reports.
Police reportedly tried to stop a vehicle at B Street and Erie Avenue, but the vehicle sped off then stopped after turning the wrong way down Willard Street, according to NBC10.

The driver got out of the vehicle armed with a knife and lunged at police, Fox 29 reports.
That's when one officer fired at least one shot, striking and killing the man, later identified as Eddie Irizarry, 27.
