Man Assaults Police Horse At Eagles Game, Philadelphia Police Say

The Lehigh County man allegedly punched the police horse, named Nicky, numerous times after being ejected from the Eagles game Saturday.

PHILADELPHIA – A Pennsylvania man was arrested on a handful of charges after he allegedly assaulted a Philadelphia Police horse at the Philadelphia Eagles game on Saturday, Jan. 13.

Police said Taylor James Hendricks, 22, of Whitehall, Lehigh County, was arrested at Lincoln Financial Field Saturday.

According to police, Hendricks was ejected from the game (which the Eagle's won over the Atlanta Falcons, sending them to the NFC championship game this weekend against the Minnesota Vikings) for being intoxicated and not having a ticket.

Hendricks is accused of walking over to a mounted officer then punching the equine officer named Nicky in the face, neck, and shoulder areas, police said. The mounted officer was also struck by Hendricks, police said.

Another officer took Hendricks into custody.

The horse and officer were not injured, police said.

Hendricks is facing charges of aggravated assault, taunting a police animal, simple assault, and defiant trespassing, court records show.

He was released Jan. 14 after posting 10 percent of $5,000 bail.

Hendricks is slated to appear for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 30, according to court documents.
