Man Dead After Standoff With SWAT In Philadelphia: Police

Philadelphia Police said a man believed to be in his 70s was pronounced dead Wednesday morning after a standoff with SWAT officers.

PHILADELPHIA — A man is dead after an incident on Roosevelt Boulevard Wednesday morning in Philadelphia, according to police.

Police said a man in a pickup truck was pronounced dead Wednesday morning after shots were fired on Borbeck Avenue near Roosevelt Boulevard.

The incident started at about 5 a.m. when police were alerted to a vehicle crash in that area.

There, they found a man, believed to be in his 70s, sitting in a truck.

When asked if he needed help, the man said no.

As the officer was preparing to drive away, two gunshots rang out.

The officer took cover and called for backup, and a barricade situation was declared.

A SWAT team was called to the area and eventually more gunshots rang out, prompting two officers to fire back.

Eventually, medics approached the truck and found the man dead.

Police did find a firearm in the truck.
