Man Pistol Whipped, Shot Fired In Parking Spot Fight: Philadelphia Police

Police said a man got into a fight with another man and a woman over a parking spot, leading to a gun and a knife being brandished.

PHILADELPHIA — Two people are in custody after a fight over a parking spot led to a man being pistol whipped Thursday, Philadelphia Police said.

The incident happened at about 1:20 p.m. on the 2700 block of A Street.

Police were called to the area for a report of a shooting and found a man, 45, suffering from a head injury and bleeding.

The man identified two people who were involved in the altercation and was taken to Temple University Hospital.

Police eventually learned no one was shot, but that the man was struck with a gun.

According to police, the victim and two others, a 21-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, got in an argument over a parking space related to the snow emergency.

The argument escalated into a fight between the victim and the 21-year-old man. During the fight, the victim pulled out a knife, and the offender brandished a legally owned handgun, police said.

They each put their weapons down and continued fighting, police said.

That's when the woman got the firearm from a vehicle, struck the victim with it, and discharged a round into the ground, police said.

The man and woman were arrested at the scene, and police recovered the weapons were recovered.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
