PHILADELPHIA — A local state representative is hosting a medical marijuana seminar Friday in Philadelphia.

State Rep. Danilo Burgos, D-Phila., announced he will host a Medical Marijuana Seminar Friday.

The Medical Marijuana Seminar will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at The Lighthouse Somerset Building-Gymnasium, 141 W. Somerset St.

The seminar is aimed at providing information to area residents about the process of obtaining a medical marijuana card, eligibility guidelines, costs and procedures.

Burgos said he is pleased to offer this event for the community and that he believes it’s essential to educate residents about this health issue.

"My experience with previous events on this subject has opened my eyes about many important aspects that need to be considered," Burgos said. "There are hundreds of people needing the card, eager to learn more, but they feel uneasy, vulnerable talking about it. I am aware of that, and I am determined to make the process easier for them in a welcoming, casual environment."

Burgos and his staff will be available to assist with any state related questions and concerns.
