Men Break Into Elderly Woman's Philly Home, Try To Assault Her

Police said two men with faces hidden by towels broke into an 82-year-old woman's home Thursday night and tried to sexually assault her.

PHILADELPHIA – An 82-year-old woman was nearly sexually assaulted during a home break-in and robbery that occurred in West Philadelphia Thursday night, police said.

At about 8:41 p.m. Thursday, two men broke into the victim's home on the 6000 block of Sansom Street, police said.

The men tried to sexually assault the victim and stole a keyboard, a cell phone, and money, police said.

They then fled out the home's back door in an unknown direction, police said.

One suspect was described as being short with a heavy build and a dark complexion. The other was described as having a slim build and a medium brown complexion.

Both were wearing white towels over their faces, police said.

Police said Friday they believe the two men started a small fire at the home's back door in their attempt to break in.
