PHILADELPHIA – There really is no middle ground when it comes to the Mummers Parade in Philadelphia: you either love it or hate it.

But no matter what you think, the New Year's Day parade is considered the best holiday parade in the nation, according to USA Today's readers and editors.

That's right, the outlet released its list of the 10 best holiday parades in the country and our very own Mummers Parade is the best.

The Mummers Parade, one of the longest running traditions in the nation,has roots dating back to the 1800s as a celebration of the New Year in Philly. The colorful procession along Broad Street features performances by comics, string bands and fancy brigades in their spectacular costumes.
