Officer Hurt After Being Struck While Riding Dirt Bike: Philly Police

Philadelphia Police said an officer on a dirt bike who was assigned to ATV detail was struck by a driver making a U-turn Sunday afternoon.

PHILADELPHIA — A dirt bike officer with the Philadelphia Police Department was hurt in a crash Sunday afternoon, police said.

The crash occurred at about 4:37 p.m. Sunday at Bennington and Caygua streets.

Police said the officer was riding a dirt bike while assigned to an ATV detail in that area when a black Honda CRV making a U-turn struck the dirt bike.

The officer slid into a parked vehicle and suffered injuries as a result of the crash, police said.

The officer was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, according to police.

Police said the driver stayed at the scene of the crash and was not hurt. Her vehicle sustained minor front-end damage, while the dirt bike was totaled.
