One Of Philly's 'Most Wanted' Captured On Murder, Related Charges

PHILADELPHIA — Authorities in Philadelphia have taken one of the city's "most wanted" people into custody.

Gregory Burnett, 40, was taken into custody Tuesday on charges of murder, possession of an instrument of crime, conspiracy, and related firearm crimes.

He is accused of fatally shooting a 31-year-old man in the early morning hours of Aug. 16, 2020 on the 5800 block of Merion Avenue in West Philadelphia.

Investigators believe an argument led to the fatal shooting.

Police in 2020 said the shooting occurred outside an establishment that may be an after hours gathering spot where many people of African descent hang out.

The crime gun found at the scene along with multiple .40 caliber fired cartridge casings.

Burnett is being held without bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on May 16, court records show.
